CURE Annual Report: 

Susan Froshauer, Ph.D., President, and CEO of CURE. 

Susan is president and CEO of CURE (Connecticut United for Research Excellence, Inc.)(cureconnect.org) and president of CURE Innovation Commons, bioscience incubator with laboratories (bioctcommons.org).  She has spent over 27 years in biopharmaceuticals research and development. She has experience as a bench scientist, pharmaceutical executive, mentor, entrepreneur and angel investor and special skill at connecting academic expertise and technology with the commercial sector.   Susan is involved with the Yale Entrepreneurial Institute, the CTNEXT-funded UCONN-Yale Program, PITCH and the Thames River Innovation Places community entrepreneurship development project.  She is an advisor for HLK Pharmaceuticals, and she is a member of the boards of Bioxiness, Lamdavision, and Carogen.

Mostafa Analoui, Ph.D., Executive Director, UConn Venture Development

“Biotech IPOs: Reading The Tea Leaves”

Mostafa Analoui, Ph.D., is Executive Director of UCONN Ventures. Previously, he was Head of Healthcare and Life Sciences at Livingston Securities (New York, NY) with investment focus in private and public companies in biotech, medtech and healthcare services. Prior to that he was the Senior Director at Pfizer Global Research and Development. Dr. Analoui is actively involved in investment, management and scientific/business development of nanotechnology, drug discovery/development, diagnostic imaging, and global strategies.

While at Pfizer, he was the Site Head for Global Clinical Technology in Groton and New London, a division focusing on emerging technologies for development and validation of biomarkers and diagnostics for drug development. Prior to joining Pfizer, Dr. Analoui was the Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Imaging Research, Associate Professor of Radiology at Indiana University, and Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Electrical & Comp Engineering at Purdue University. He was also President and CEO of Therametric Technology Inc. He has received his Ph.D. from Purdue University, followed by Post-Doctoral Fellowship at IBM TJ Watson Research Center in NY.

Patrick Plues, Vice President, State Government Affairs, BIO

“Legislative Matters Arising Concerning the US-wide Bioscience Ecosystem”

Patrick Plues is a seasoned government affair and alliance development professional with twenty years experience in government and corporate public affairs. His career is focused in the biopharmaceutical industry where he has worked for the past fifteen years.

Most recently, Patrick was Vice President for Government Affairs at The Conafay Group, a government and public affairs consulting firm specializing in the biopharmaceutical industry. Prior to The Conafay Group, he was Director of Federal Government Affairs at Cephalon, a global biopharmaceutical company where he was responsible for executing federal legislative/ policy strategies and representing company interests before the U.S. Congress and the Administration. He also led a team of alliance development and health policy and reimbursement professionals.
