July 20, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

“Accelerate Your Business” is a new series of events at CURE Innovation Commons to offer business know-how and connectivity to individuals who are interested in learning or starting and growing an enterprise.  This service is provided to the CT ecosystem through the TRIP collaborative and CURE. Guest experts will offer short presentations (less than 15 minutes), followed by lots of time for Q & A. After the program there will be opportunities to meet one-on-one with the speakers as well as to enjoy some networking.  Entrepreneurs from all business sectors are invited to attend.

Presentation One: Common Tax Issues and Opportunities for Early Stage Companies

Expert: Lisa Lasaracina, Partner Fiondella, Milone & LaSaracina, LLP

Lisa has over 20 years of public accounting experience, including ten years at a national firm, serving both public and non-public companies. Her experience covers a range of industry categories, from service companies and major manufacturers to biotech innovators. She takes a proactive approach to tax-saving opportunities on behalf of her clients. In addition, she is responsive to unanticipated needs, whether it’s a straightforward or complex issue. Of particular note is her expertise in transaction services, ranging from buy side due diligence to sell side tax planning for both corporations and partnerships or LLCs.  She also has significant experience with research tax credits, net operating loss planning, stock compensation, debt transactions, and recapitalizations. In addition, Lisa has extensive experience working with biotech and medical device companies and the unique issues they face beginning with the start-up phase through their exit.

Presentation Two: Helping CT Companies with REACH Wage and Training Reimbursements

Expert: Mohamed Chaouki, REACH Program Coordinator, Capital Workforce Partners

Mohamed Chaouki has been a program specialist and business services consultant in the workforce development field for more than 10 years. In this time he has worked with hundreds of Connecticut businesses to help them find qualified and motivated talent, resolve workforce training challenges, and connect to public and private resources that help them grow and thrive.”  Aware of the stipulations that often exist in many government funded programs, he strives to streamline and simplify the complex range of programs and resources, so that businesses can get back to running their business.  With this strategy in mind, hundreds of Connecticut businesses achieve their workforce potential.  Over 2000 job seekers and 100’s of employers are helped during his time managing and coordinating these programs, and the good news is that funds are still available.

REACH

Capital Workforce Partners is excited to announce the Reemployment Alliance for Careers in Health (REACH). It’s an awarded $8 Million dollar grant for Connecticut founded on an understanding of new talent demands in the healthcare sector as well as the difficulties that employers face in finding the most qualified job seekers. Our project team is committed to helping healthcare providers and related employers train their existing and incoming workforce.  Employers can receive up to $18,000 in wage reimbursements and tuition funds while training new employees
